Novateur Capital, LLC is a capital advisory firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. We work with commercial real estate operators and developers to help them determine what capital strategies and structures will allow them to optimize their project returns and overall performance. We do this by understanding their overall business strategy and long-term vision. Ultimately, it comes down to performance when it matters and we have established ourselves as a reliable and resourceful capital advisor and broker for projects of all shapes and sizes.
Novateur’s principals have over fifteen years of experience in the commercial real estate space – from acquisitions, to asset management, to debt restructuring, to direct lending. All of these experiences have positioned us to understand our clients’ needs and be able to advise them from a perspective that transcends any individual transaction. Maxim Shapiro
Founder|CEO
Maxim Shapiro started Novateur in 2018 after moving to California for love. And building Novateur has been a labor of love. Currently based in Dublin, CA, Maxim’s goal is to grow Novateur to have multiple locations throughout the state of California and perhaps beyond.
Prior to starting Novateur, Maxim worked as a lender doing new originations and distressed workouts. Maxim was also a member of a private equity firm that invested in retail assets throughout Europe before the Great Recession of 2008-2010. That is where Maxim got his start in commercial real estate and learned to underwrite and value assets.
Maxim was born in the Soviet Union and speaks fluent Russian. Having grown up in the Boston area and spent many years there, he now lives in the Bay Area. Maxim spends most of his free time with his partner, Katya, and with his dog, Jim.
I was introduced to Novateur via a construction manager in my network. From the very beginning, I liked their approach and thoroughness in understanding my project needs. Novateur was tireless in pursuit of a lender for my 30-unit development. Once we engaged in an LOI, they inserted themselves reviewing all documents before being submitted to the lender. Really liked this approach because it added another layer of Quality Assurance so that we are efficient in our submission process. Novateur’s enthusiasm was a huge plus. They were always available to take my calls and they replied to my emails in a very timely manner. I highly recommend them.
